Happy Halloween 2025!!

The spookiest, coziest, and most mischievous night of the year has arrived! Halloween 2025! We potatoes are delighted to step into this magical evening where shadows dance, jack-o’-lanterns glow, and the veil between worlds thins just enough for mischief and mystery to slip through.

We’ve been counting down all month long, queuing up horror classics, prepping snacks, and dusting off our beloved Boooooooterie board. And even though this year has been heavier and steeped in dread, we potatoes are doing what we can. Halloween isn’t just about scares or treats. It’s also about comfort, creativity, and a touch of magic.

A Bit of Spooky History

Halloween’s roots go deep, back to Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival that marked the end of harvest and the beginning of winter. It was a time when the veil between the living and the dead grew thin, and people gathered to light fires, wear costumes, and honor both the beauty and fear of the unknown.

As the centuries rolled on, Samhain evolved and morphed, blending with Roman traditions and later Christian observances, into the Halloween we know today. But at its core, it has always been a celebration of transformation, liminality, and finding community in the dark.

Halloween Night Essentials

We potatoes are keeping things low-key this year. Our beloved Boooooooterie board made a quiet return, nothing extravagant, just a little comfort where we could find it. No photos this time around. It didn’t feel right.

With SNAP benefits being slashed and more people facing food insecurity, we wanted to hold space. If you're struggling this season, please know you're not alone. Whether you're sharing a full spread or a single piece of candy tonight, you're honoring this night just the same. Halloween is not about performance or capitalism.

There’s no pressure to go big. If you’re tired, overwhelmed, or just surviving, we see you. Even a candle, a cozy blanket, or a favorite film can be enough. You don’t have to do everything. You just have to do what helps you feel safe, warm, and maybe a little bit alive. That’s what matters.

Final Thoughts from the Cauldron

We know this Halloween comes at a time of rising fear and scarcity. Millions are facing benefit cuts tomorrow, and that cruelty is impossible to ignore. So if you’re not in the mood to celebrate, we understand completely. The exhaustion is real. But if you are, if you need even a flicker of comfort tonight, we’re here.

We’ve always believed that holidays matter. Not in a shallow, commercial way, but in the soul-deep way that reminds us who we are. And honestly, we’ve really struggled to celebrate anything this year, which is not like us at all. We’ve felt depleted. Scared. Weary. So many emotions all at once. But despite everything that has happened, and everything still to come, we potatoes will keep on trying to find small moments of joy where we can. To celebrate, even if the celebrations look and feel different this year.

If you're in a position to give, we potatoes also encourage donating to your local food pantries or community fridges. Every bit helps, especially now. We’ll be doing the same.

So whether you’re in costume or in pajamas, surrounded by friends or flying solo with your pets, we hope this night gives you a moment of peace. A moment of magic. A moment to breathe and gather your strength.

The fight ahead will be long and exhausting. Because as we all know, not all monsters live on screen. And not all heroes carry swords. Some heroes wear inflatable costumes, some carry signs, and some carry snacks and gentle comfort.

Happy Halloween 2025!!

Here’s to cozy frights, great movies, and choosing to celebrate (no matter how small) even in uncertain times. You are not alone. Cheers to spooky season, and more importantly, cheers to you. May you be kind and gentle with yourself this holiday, and throughout the season still to come.

Let us know in the comments! Have you seen any of these films? What’s your favorite spooky flick? Got any new drinking game rules to add? What does your Halloween night look like this year? We’re all ears (and eyeballs)!
